The
Steamtown National Historic Site
Situated at the heart of the Lackawanna Valley in downtown
Scranton, Pennsylvania, Steamtown marked its 12th anniversary as a
unit of the National Park Service in 1998. Here, in this once
significant center for railroading and the former headquarters for
the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad, the history of
American steam railroading has been preserved for the continued
education and enjoyment of future generations.
